But the way Haru sees it, why compromise on any front? Located just north of Union Square, the hangar-size Gramercy Park location of the popular Japanese restaurant group features expansive banquet seating, two full bars and lounges, even an interior waterfall. The options for imbibing include a carefully crafted sake list, international brews, and a list of signature cocktails. And the food? The specially designed tasting menu offers a generous sampling of several of Haruís most popular dishes (think tuna tataki and grilled spicy garlic shrimp) and signature rolls like the Kiss of Fire (super white tuna, salmon, jalapeÒo peppers, and wasabi tobiko wrapped around crunchy spicy tuna). In accordance with traditional omakase rules, dishes are chefís choice. But fear not: Thereís a reason the chosen dishes have achieved the status of crowd-pleaser. Drinks arenít part of the deal ó but when all your chow is only $60, you can certainly stand to splurge a little.
